Hi! My name is Valerie, and I’m a native of the Central Coast. Growing up in Grover Beach made it easy for me to fall in love with movement. I spent regular time outside swimming in the ocean down the street from my house, riding my bike through Pismo, and running cross-country along the beach and hills until I discovered my love for dance. Dance became my movement of choice for many years until my health took a turn and I had to take a break. After a time of healing, I was desperate to find movement again that would help support my body, heart, and mind. Dance provided a beautifully balanced challenge of precision, control, grace, beauty, and strength. I wanted to find something in the movement world that would support me in this way and help me grow in knowledge about my body. When I discovered Pilates, my world changed, giving me everything I had been searching for. It met me where I was and helped strengthen my body and mind. I took the excellent opportunity to enroll in PCI’s Teacher Training and graduated in 2019. I took time to teach at a local studio, found my way back to dance, and found a job in the mental health field. I can’t wait to see you in the studio!
